Poor Crue

Crue has had a hard time adjusting to his little brother.  Going from being the center of attention to sharing the spotlight has been difficult for him.  He seems to be taking out this anger on Tate and myself.  Here are a few examples:
  • Tipped the bouncer over...while Tate was in it.
  • At first every time Tate would cry (which is not often thank goodness) Crue would get in his face and yell, "BABY" over and over. Now his new thing is to start screaming/crying himself and hold his hands out to be held.
  • He won't come near me if I'm holding the baby.  I was reading to him and he was sitting on my lap and then I picked up Tate and Crue wouldn't come by me or let me continue reading to him.
  • When he kisses us goodnight he pretends to kiss Tate but his lips don't actually touch Tate's head.
  • Now for the best one.  Let me just first say that when Mike leaves in the morning I always call him and tell him Crue's reaction...such as, he laid by the garage door with his blankie or he cried for a few minutes and kept saying, "daddy daddy" or he sat by the window and watched as he drove away.  Well when Tate and I left the other day Mike called to tell me what Crue did.  I was expecting to hear that he was sad and kept saying, "momma momma".  Yeah right.  Apparently after we shut the door to the garage Crue locked it.
I know he will start liking us eventually but I'm hoping it happens sooner rather than later.  I miss my little buddy :(

Tate's Birth Story

I went in to LDS Hospital around 8:00 pm on Sunday night and they monitered me for an hour before deciding that I could stay.  I received my epidural around 10:00 pm and then my dr. broke my water at 11:00 pm.  I don't know why my boys think they need to come bright and early in the morning but they do (Crue was born at 5:02 am and Tate was born at 4:55 am).  This made for a long night but luckily I had some of my favorite people in the delivery room with me so it made the time go by a little quicker.  The labor and delivery went really smooth except that Tate was facing the wrong way so he came out with his face first instead of his head.  This meant I had to push a little longer and harder then I did with Crue and is the reason why Tate's head and eyes were bruised.  Later in the day my mom and gparents brought Crue up to meet his brother.  Unfortunately it didn't go so well and Crue really didn't want anything to do with the baby...or me for that matter.  He's only now starting to warm up to him and I'm not even sure if I would call it that.  He's more like tolerating him.  He really doesn't like it when the people he loves hold the baby.  Our families have been amazing though and always greet and play with Crue first before acknowledging the baby which I think has helped.
During Tate's birth we decided to have Mal Walker come and take photos to document this special occassion.  At first I wasn't sure about the whole thing...but looking at these photos makes me wish I had pictures like these of Crue's delivery.  Mal did an AMAZING job (her website is malwalkerphotography.blogspot.com) and I highly recommend her!

The one and only "kiss" Crue gave Tate up until recently and looking at this photo and the next one I don't think he kissed him I think he might have bit him! Look at Tates face above and look at his face after...somethings not right....
