Update

Crue is 11 weeks old and is growing up so much. I sometimes wonder what happened to my tiny little baby! A few things that Crue has started doing lately: talking, playing with his tongue, hitting the toys that dangle from his play mat, smiling whenever we talk to him, sitting up in his bumbo (he's actually been doing this for awhile) and basically just being a pretty good kid. He doesn't cry too much and when he does it is usually because he is tired. He has been sleeping 9-10 hours every night since he was 7 weeks old which I really appreciate! The dogs have also been really good with Crue and I'm so thankful for that because there is no way we would be able to get rid of them. Although we just encountered a little situation with Shrek and I'm hoping that it doesn't happen again! First of all I must say that Maggie is always really careful around the baby but Shrek doesn't really seem to care if the baby is there or not. He jumps over the baby and whips the baby in the face with his tale all the time (Crue doesn't seem to mind this, but I do). Anyway, when we got home from St. George and picked the dogs up the moment they got home they started rampaging through the house. Poor little Crue was just laying on the couch minding his own business when Shrek "accidently" jumped on him! Crue just stared at me like "mom how could you let this happen", then his bottom lip starts to curl (he's not crying at this point just looking at me with the saddest eyes) and then a few seconds later the screaming started. I felt horrible. It didn't take long to quiet him but it broke my heart. There he was an innocent bystander to the craziness around him when all of a sudden he was attached by a big black furball! I'm not too worried though, I know Crue will get back at him when he's older :)

St. George

We were lucky enough to go to St. George again with Mike's family. I was able to find Crue the cutest blessing outfit and Mike had a great time golfing. Crue is such a great little traveler too, he usually sleeps when he is in the car. I didn't take many pictures this time but here's a few:

until next time...

Check-up

My handsome little man had his 2 month check-up today! I can't believe it has already been 2 months. It seems like he's been apart of our family forever because we can't imagine life without him! He weighed 11 lbs. and was 23 in. long which puts him in the 38% for weight and 58% for height and his head cir. is 5%. He also had to get 2 shots and it broke my heart to see him scream so hard that he couldn't even take a breath. The weird thing is that this blood curdling scream lasted about 2 seconds and then my little boy fell asleep! However when we got home he would cry every few minutes and the times that he would quiet down he had angry eyes that wouldn't stop, but once we got him in the tub those angry eyes disappeared and my funny little boy was playing in the water and sticking his tongue out! If only I could keep him in the water forever....or at least until the pain in his legs goes away!

I love you Crue-boo!

Road Trip!

Mike's family just got a townhouse in St. George, so two weeks ago we went down to get out of this crappy weather (unfortunately it rained the ENTIRE time we were there so it was kind of pointless to leave here)! Mike and I decided to go down early so we could spend a day in Vegas to visit family and shop. We left on Wednesday night and Crue was so good! He slept the whole way down which was great. When we got to Vegas we left Crue with Great Grandma and Grandpa George and as you can see from the pictures below Crue had a great time....Grandma probably not so much! I didn't get any pictures of dinner with Eni and Devon but we loved visiting with them and hope they come stay with us soon! Then maybe I can convince her to have a baby....
When Mike's family got there us girls went and got amazing massages! The boys were going to go golfing but the rain ruined their fun. We did eat at Don Pedros which is a favorite of ours, I recommend it if you are down that way! On the way home we met Grandpa and Grandma Waddingham at Chilis! It was great to see them since we don't get to very often.
The best part about finally getting home was we were able to drop Crue off for the night at Mimi's house so we could get a good night's sleep....of course she gave us back our dogs....I guess that's a fair trade! :) Thanks for the fun times everyone! Can't wait to do it again! Crue getting ready to go to Vegas

Poor Grandma..she just bought that sweater!

I wish he hadn't been cranky the whole time!

On the way home I think he had finally had it with his carseat

Rub a dub dub....

My little man loves the bathtub! I think it's my favorite time of day too and not only because it's part of our bedtime routine and I know I ge to put him down for the night after we are done ;), but because he is so happy and active during bath time. He kicks his legs and splashes his hands in the water and he doesn't mind if it gets in his face or eyes, he just opens his mouth really wide (maybe hoping to get a drink?) and makes the cutest noises. Mike and I call him our little "fishy fishy" and even when we are done cleaning him we let Crue sit and play in the water and sing upbeat goofy songs to him. I can't wait for this summer when we can take him to the pool, I know he'll just love it! I've posted some pics of him bathing at various ages and in various "tubs". I wish I had more pictures but since it's a two person job to bath him I don't get to take many photos.

Crue Michael Morrell

Since we just entered the blogging world I have a little catching up to do. I'll be using this blog for mostly journaling purposes so I've got to start from the beginning. The most exciting thing that happened recently was that we welcomed our first child, Crue Michael Morrell, into our lives on Dec. 11, 2009. He weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz. and was 18.5 in. long. Mike and I were at Cafe Rio eating dinner when the contractions started to get really strong. We arrived at LDS Hospital @ 10:30 pm and by 5:02 am he was here! It was such a breeze, I didn't feel any pain and the nurse even gave me a numbing shot to put my I.V. in! Everything went so smoothly and I'm praying that it wasn't a fluke and that next time it will go exactly the same way!
Crue was such a good little boy from the beginning but I noticed when we brought him home he hadn't pooped for a couple of days so I took him to the dr. and they told me he had jaundice. It was pretty bad and we had to keep him wrapped up in lights for 5 days! It was so miserable because he could only be moved a few feet away from the machine and had to lie in his bassinet most of the day, but he was a champ and hardly cried.
At his 2 week appointment Crue was in the 5% for height, 9% for weight, and 3% for his head size...my little boy was just that....little!! He had only gained 1/2 an ounce and 1/2 inch since he was born.
When Crue hit about 6 weeks he found his tongue and also started blowing bubbles. It is the cutest thing and when I kiss him he sticks his tongue out right after, I love it! However, he also got really cranky so we just started him on a strict schedule a few days ago and I already see the benefits, he cries less, almost sleeps through the night and is such a happier baby! He also smiled for the first time the day before he turned 7 weeks old, a real smile not a gas-related one :), while I was singing to him...it was so rewarding and I was lucky enough to get a few photos of it! I'm sure this new and improved little boy is the result of the schedule so we will definitely be sticking to it. We love him so much and couldn't imagine our life without him. It's hard work but it's so worth it!
And last but not least a few nicknames bestowed upon little Crue:
Crue-boo
Crue bear
Cranky Crue
Handsome little man
Grumpy old man (this was used fairly often in his first 5 weeks of life..not because he cried but because he just made this mad face all the time)
Crue dog
Cruezer
fishy fishy (I will explain this in my next post)
Now enough of me rambling....here are the pictures :)
