ugh.

Crue has had an ear infection for 2 weeks!  He was on an antibiotic last week but it didn't help so when I took him to the dr on Friday we started a different kind to see if that will clear it up.  If it doesn't then we have to go to an ear/nose/throat dr. who will put tubes in his ears.  I know he'll end up getting tubes.  I'm just not sure if we will put them in before winter or in the spring.  Crue is getting his first tooth too! I can feel it and when he allows me to I can  kind of see it (although this is a huge ordeal because he screams like I'm torturing him when I try to take a good look at it).  You would think he would be a nightmare with all of this going on, he's been really good!  He doesn't really cry he just wants to be rocked and cuddled.  I'm actually liking this since he is not a snuggler at all.  He's also started giving us kisses!! This is my favorite thing in the world.  Even though it's a little disgusting since they are open mouth and slobbery I take them whenever he wants to give them!  We also learned that he likes Taylor Swift.  My ringtone is Mine and when it started ringing the other day he just started shaking his head back and forth.  Of course then we played the song about 5 million times cuz it was the cutest thing! We actually got video of it so I'll try to upload it.  He's pulling himself up on everything, including this cute little toy we bought him that actually helps him walk around the house without us having to help him.  I love being in the kitchen and seeing that handsome little boy walk in looking so proud of himself.  With his new found mobility he's been such a better kid! He'll play by himself now and I'm LOVING that! I can't believe he is going to be 9 months next week!  I think he's favorite thing right now is his puppies.  He will not leave them alone.  When they rampage through the house and bark like crazy he thinks it is the funniest thing!  I've never heard him laugh so hard!  Mike and I are having so much fun with him.  Crue's constantly laughing and smiling and I wish he could just stay at this stage forever.

My baby

I wanted to take a few minutes and do a post that's more for our little family.  I don't want to forget how cute my little baby is and I want to remember some of the fun things he is doing at almost 8 months.  He's so cute and funny!  I honestly never thought I could love someone so much.  (Mike hates it when I say this...I think he is jealous!) Crue is perfect...well not all the time, but I still love him!  A few things I want to remember:
  • He is finally starting to army crawl.  We were worried that he wasn't going to do it.  He always wants to stand and have us help him walk.  For awhile, he cried whenever we left him on the floor.  Now he can turn and drag his little body.  It is so funny...eventhough we think he hates it.
  • He loves to watch his dogs play.  If Crue is crying and the dogs start barking, he immediately stops to look around and see where his puppies went.
  • He is such a good eater!  He eats fruits, veggies, snacks, and anything else I give him. If we don't feed him fast enough then he starts to grunt.
  • Crue constantly moves his hands in an "I want" motion.  He does this when he's on the floor and wants to be picked up or if he wants what you're eating/drinking.
  • When he wakes up from sleeping he's fine to just chill in the crib till I come check on him.  Sometimes he'll talk to himself.  Other times he'll just play with his blankie.
  • Which leads to my next point.  He LOVES his blankie.  He doesn't sleep as well when he doesn't have that stupid blanket.
  • When we are outside...swimming, sitting on the grass, or just walking around,...he is so happy.  If he is crying and I let him stand up against the sliding glass window then he quiets right down.  Just looking outside makes him calm down.
  • Crue also likes to study other kids and then will try to mimic them.  We have some cute neighbor kids that give him attention and he eats it right up.
  • When I go to the store with Crue and someone comes up and talks to him or even looks at him he always gives them a cute smile!  I've been told on many occasions that he is going to be a ladies man...I'm sure they're right! :)
  • I started taking Crue to the library so that I could read to him and really just get out of the house.  I'm not sure if it's his favorite thing (he trys to eat the books) but I think he has fun.
  • Crue loves to play with the tv remote and my cell phone.  I don't know why we buy this kid toys.
  • Now that he's getting older I think he loves the tub even more than he use to...if that's possible! Whenever I start to run the bath water he lifts his eyebrows and starts hooting!
  • His laugh is the best noise in the world!  He especially loves when I play peek-a-boo with him.
  • Spoiled.  Enough said.
  • When I start yelling at Crue (play yelling...and not too loud) he will stare at me like I'm crazy and then start talking back.
  • Crue has to have his way.  If you sit him down and don't give him attention he will scream! I don't mean cry either, I mean scream.  He actually screams a lot.  If you're not doing exactly what he wants you to do he will let you know he's unhappy.
Being  a mom isn't always glamorous and easy.  For example, while I was at RC Willey Crue burped.  I instinctively put my hand under his mouth and he spit up into it.  I then realized I didn't have anything to wipe my hand off with so...I wiped it on my shirt.  What can ya do?  Of course I love it and wouldn't want to change a thing.

July

We've been crazy busy this month! I don't even know where to begin so I won't. This post will be mostly pictures (which is the best part anyway) and I'll try to add a few captions.

Over the 4th we went boating with my family and while we were out having a good time....This poor little thing got attacked by who knows what (we are thinking maybe a deer or maybe a person) Luckily she is recovering and will be ok. We went boating again and this time our friends came!

Jeni, me, Lisa Crue watching fireworks for the 1st time...he LOVED them!

That is if the poor thing can survive with us as parents! ;) I just found out a few days ago a secret that my husband had been hiding from me. While I was out with friends and Mike was at home watching Crue, there was a little accident. Let me first start out by telling you how I came to learn about this accident. I was in the kitchen with Crue and I had him sitting on the counter and I was just getting him some crackers from the cupboard. I still had my hand on Crue so it wasn't like he was chilling there by himself. Mike walked in and said, "Shan! You can't leave him like that on the counter." My reply, "Mike. I'm his mom, like I would leave him on the counter. He could fall off. Why would you even tell me to be careful?" (I asked this question because I've done a few things I probably shouldn't have done when it comes to parenting and he's never questioned anything). Then he gives me this look like, "Should I tell her or should I stand her and pretend that I was just taking a more active role with the parenting?" This look may or may not have actually exisited but if you know my husband I'm sure this thought was running through his head. However the next thing I said was "Come look at Crue. He was sitting on the floor playing and he hit his head when he fell forward. Do you think we need to have him checked?" Then Mike said "No he's fine. When you push on the bump and you can still feel their skull then they're ok. It's when you can't feel it that you need to worry." When I heard him say this I think my eyes got wide and my jaw dropped. How did he know this? Well, apparently while I was with friends a couple of weeks ago Mike sat Crue on the counter. He then turned to grab him a bottle and Crue took a nose dive toward the hardwood floor. Now Mike tells me that he thinks he caught Crue before he really bonked his head (I think he may just be saying this so I don't shoot him). He then proceeds to tell me that he called his mom. Not Crue's mom, which would be me, to let me know about what just happened with my son. She tells him to go to insta-care (thank you Carol). So Mike takes Crue to insta-care where the dr. checks him out and tells him that everything will be ok and gives him the info about bumps. Now you're probably wondering how I didn't notice the goose egg on my childs head. I got home late and Crue was already in bed. I only check on him at night to make sure he's breathing. Since he'd been with his dad all night I didn't think it would be necessary to do a full body search for bumps and bruises. That has changed. When I asked my husband why he didn't tell me he said it was because he knew that I would be worrying all night, checking on him, looking for any kind of sign that something might be a little off so I could run him to the hospital again to make sure everything was ok. He's right. He also said that he worried enough for the both of us and that he kept getting up in the night to check Crue to make sure everything was ok. I'm thankful that he cares enough about me not to let me worry and enough about Crue to get up in the night and check on him. Thankfully Crue survived this and I don't think there is any perment damage. Although he has been doing this kind of retarded smile for awhile now.... Anyway I know accidents happen and I really don't blame Mike at all. I'm sure something like this will happen to me eventually and I just hope Mike's not around to witness it, because when it does happen I will not be telling a soul!
